In order to get the kids up for school this A.M., I had to call them from outside. The weather was perfect for sleeping out last night, and the older three and dog slept on the lawn. I got up and took this photo before they all got up.
The youngest two girls have been learning about North American native culture this week, so we've made model wigwams and tepees. I've come to see the native homes as great works of art. Trying to make these tiny wigwams almost made me crazy. To make them for real must have taken great skill that I certainly don't posses.
It's been a good week so far!

Every time you feel in God's creatures something pleasing and attractive, do not let your attention be arrested by them alone, but, passing them by, transfer your thought to God and say: "O my God, if Thy creations are so full of beauty, delight and joy, how infinitely more full of beauty, delight and joy art Thou Thyself, Creator of all!

The tepees and wigams look good to me! How fun!
ReplyDeleteHow cool that the three of them (well, four including guard dog!) lasted all night sleeping outside. It was a great night to take advantage of doing so.
ReplyDeleteI'm with dr momi. I think the tepees and wigwams look very authentic. I thinking I'd have to keep them around for a long time as decoration. :o]

ReplyDeleteJudy, that sounds like a great recipe! I think I'll wait until the house needs a bit of warming and bake in the oven instead. :) I think that's how most of the baking I do gets done - I get cold, and walla! I bake! Thanks for the recipe! It seems like you're enjoying those apples.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dr. Momi and Mama Pea. And, it's nice to meet you Dr. Momi! I'm enjoying your blog today.

ReplyDeleteThat is such a great picture! I wish we could sleep outside on the "lawn" (i.e. clover & weeds), but the chiggers & ticks would eat us to nothing before dawn.
ReplyDeleteI love sleeping outside... I am debating if I can manage one more night before it gets too chilly (and wet) here in Oregon. What a great momma you are letting them do that on a school night!
ReplyDeleteThose kids need to build a teepee, how fun would that be?!! I love sleeping outside, unfortunately it's still hot out at night here and it won't stop raining!
ReplyDeleteJudy- I'm so glad to hear things are looking up for you! Family is so precious. I'm really glad you're able to be close to yours at this time. Crying can be a very good thing sometimes, so no apologies necessary.
ReplyDeleteCR- Chiggers = yuck! I'll share my yard w/ you any time, though. This time of year is perfect.
Ruth- I hope you get at least one more chance this fall!
Erin- Making a big tepee would be a great project. We'd love to find time for that! I hope the rain stops for you soon, and things dry up and cool off.
You are such a fun mom to let them sleep outside! Really!
