Every time you feel in God's creatures something pleasing and attractive, do not let your attention be arrested by them alone, but, passing them by, transfer your thought to God and say: "O my God, if Thy creations are so full of beauty, delight and joy, how infinitely more full of beauty, delight and joy art Thou Thyself, Creator of all!

You can’t get to joy by making everything perfect. You can only get there by seeing in every imperfection all that’s joy.

  1. Everything is looking healthy and growing good, Patty. And what are a few weeds among friends?

  3. Wow...It's weird to see all your beautiful cool weather crops just starting out. We've been at full tilt down here in the South. (I miss my lettuce...sob)

  4. Yes, I have to agree that it does seem strange. I always feel like I'm behind because I read about what all you southern gardeners are up to. Like Erin canning salsa. It will be fall before I'm doing anyhting like that. :)

  8. Hello, I'm a cool weather gardener also. Our basil just took off this past week. I have romaine lettuce growing but have yet to harvest any. I agree, it's hard to believe our southern friends are already harvesting large crops of tomatoes

  10. Hi everyone! It was nice to see all of your comments when I logged on. :) I've been a tad bit busy lately, but I'm planning to post tonight.
Judy- I sure don't know what tomatoes are "supposed" to be doing, but my grandparents and parents live about 180 miles away, about 2 hrs north of Minneapolis, and their tomato plants are smaller and have no blossoms yet (or didn't on the 4th of July), so I bet you're doing just fine. ;)
Hi to Back Road Journal(er)! I can't wait to check out your blog. I love discovering new ones to read. Thanks for stopping by.
Erin- I hope I have lettuce and tomatoes at the same time, but that doesn't happen easily around here either. Often the tomatoes have to come in and ripen indoors come fall, at least for me.
