Every time you feel in God's creatures something pleasing and attractive, do not let your attention be arrested by them alone, but, passing them by, transfer your thought to God and say: "O my God, if Thy creations are so full of beauty, delight and joy, how infinitely more full of beauty, delight and joy art Thou Thyself, Creator of all!
- Nicodemus of the Holy Mountain

You can’t get to joy by making everything perfect. You can only get there by seeing in every imperfection all that’s joy.

Deer Hunting

Deer hunting season began yesterday morning. I must admit that I had mixed feelings because deer hunting is work. I know that sounds bad, like I just want to get out of work or something, but...I'm tired, really. I'm just feeling tired lately, and fitting deer processing into the schedule is difficult right now, but seeing Dan come home with this little beauty is exciting nonetheless. And seeing Dan enjoying himself is pretty nice. He got this guy at about 11:00 AM yesterday. It's a young buck, but heavy and well fattened. This guy was ready for winter!

Dan is done hunting now, but taking out M and S at separate times to try their hand at the hunt. What if they each actually bag a deer? Oh, my! I hope that as we get experience at processing deer it will seem much less intimidating!

Today, I'm limiting my list of blessings to five:

- full freezer
- new bunnies (The second and last batch of fall born this morning. I haven't counted them yet.)
- unseasonably warm weather
- donation day at the playhouse :) (2:00 P.M. if anyone's interested in the Rockin' Tale of Snow White)
- Molly and Dan getting time together today

  2. Food for the freezer is good but I know it makes a lot of hard work for you right now.

I discovered my recent tiredness, lack of energy and funky disposition was probably due to a cold, or germs, that were trying to take hold of me. Thankfully, the cold is out in the open now and I'm not feeling too bad. Actually, I think I'm handling my little bit of sickness better because I have something to blame my recent bad mood on! There are so many germs going around the county now, Patty, that I'm wondering if this is what is causing your tiredness, too.

  3. Judy- Thanks!

Mama Pea- I pray you're soon back to your healthy, energetic self.
I do think you're right about the germs. I've been feeling like my body is fighting something, but I hadn't put my lack of energy and motivation in that context. You're also right that it does feel so much better having something to blame it on. :) (Because it COULDN'T have anything to do with ME, after all!)

  4. hey you 2-momma pea and Patty-I didn't know you were both under the weather-get better, sending. fresh air, hugs and prayers for everyone to feel better.Me,I get in a funk because of all the cancer going around,we might be losing my sister-in -law soon, the cancer is winning at her house-Me-no way am I giving up and about the extra work Patty I know what you mean,my brother processes his own too ,but I would pay someone to get me some venison-no one in my immediate family hunts anymore and although my back yard is full of dear, that would be against the law. than there's the private bow season to rid the city if some of the deer pop. but the DNR also has a booby hatch, trying to catch hunters that go after what they are not suppose too-makes no sense to me

  8. Nice job, Dan! Sorry you are feeling tired, I sympathize because I've felt like I've had the wind knocked out of me for 2 weeks now, and I'm not even sick! This morning I feel a bit better and I wonder if it had to do with the fact that up until this weekend we hadn't set the clocks back yet, seemed like it took forever this year to do that!
